Who is Ahmed El Bakry?
Ahmed El Bakry is the Managing Director - Egypt & North Africa at Humania Capital (DIFC) Limited and an Investment Advisor to the Central Bank of Egypt. Ahmed is currently a board member of Egyptian Saudi Healthcare Company (SGH Cairo), Batterjiya Medical City (SGH AlexWest), and EFG-EV FinTech accelerator. Previously he held several executive positions, including the Managing Director of EFG Hermes Finance, Head of Equity Investments at Islamic Development Bank Group, and Chief Operating Officer of Al Sharkiya Sugar Manufacturing Company. He also held several academic roles at Arab Academy for Science & Technology, Faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University, and the American University in Cairo.
Ahmed held several board positions in Egypt MENA region, including valU, EFG Hermes Factoring, and held leading board roles in turning around distressed companies in Levant and GCC region in commercial banking, aviation, real estate, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Throughout his career, Ahmed has focused on private equity investment, corporate/project finance, corporate transformations, international development, and operational excellence.
Ahmed has a Bachelors degree from Faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University (2000), an MBA from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria (2003), Master of Arts in Economics (2007) and Ph.D. in Corporate Finance from Old Dominion University in the United States (2008). Ahmed is also a CFA charter holder since 2005 and is a member of CFA Institute as well as the CFA societies in Egypt & Jordan.
